OUTREACH FOR YOUTH: CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE I - Name and Purpose
SECTION I The name of this organization shall be the Outreach for Youth Organization. The official abbreviation shall be
the monogram OFY, written without periods, of which it will be hereafter referred to as.
SECTION 2 The purpose shall be to foster the pursuit of public service and citizenship on the part of the individual; to
bridge the gap between our differences and use them together for a common good.
ARTICLE II - Motto and Color
SECTION 1 The motto shall be "Bringing Diversity Together For A Common Good".
SECTION 2 The official color shall be black and gold.
ARTICLE III - Membership
SECTION 1 Any student desiring to give back to the community may join OFY.
ARTICLE IV - Election and Appointment of Officers and Terms of Office
SECTION 1
(a) On the third Tuesday of September, of the first semester, an election shall be held. The elected offices shall be President,
Vice-President, and Secretary. Class Officers shall be appointed by the chief executive officer present at the next subsequent
meeting. There shall be two officers per class. During the inaugural semester of the clubs founding, officers shall be appointed
to office as seen fit by the clubs founder to ensure the longevity and prosperity of the establishment of the club.
(b) Members must fulfill the following eligibility requirements for candidacy: The President must be of a Senior or Junior
status with at least one semesters involvement within the club; during the first semester the Vice-President must be of a
Senior, Junior, or Sophomore status; during the second semester the Vice-President must be of a Junior or Sophomore status;
the Secretary must be concurrently enrolled in an English class and shall consent to attend all official club meetings.
SECTION 2
(a) If a vacancy occurs in any elective office, the President shall recommend an interim appointee. This appointee is subject
to approval by a vote of the membership. This appointee shall serve only until the next regular election of that office.
(b) If a vacancy occurs in the office of President, the Vice-President shall assume the Presidency immediately.
ARTICLE V Duties of Officers
SECTION 1
(a) The President shall preside at all meetings, and conduct them according to the rules adopted. He/she shall enforce
due observance of this Constitution; decide all questions of order; sign all official documents adopted by the club, and perform
all other duties pertaining to the office of President. In addition, he/she shall organize club activities, plan public service
projects, and advance club interest and activity as approved by the club.
(b) The Vice-President shall assume all the duties of the President in his/her absence. In addition, he/she shall aid the
President in organizing club activities, plan and recommend public service projects, and advance club interest and activity
as approved by the club. In the term of office of the second semester, the Vice-President shall begin planning club activities
of the subsequent school year and shall be responsible for officer elections under the guidance of the club advisor.
(c) The Secretary shall keep a record of the proceedings of all meetings, keep a roll of members, submit membership applications,
carry on all correspondence, read communications at each meeting, publicize the club, and create notices of meeting for each
member. At the expiration of his/her term he/she shall turn over all items belonging to the club to his/her successor.
ARTICLE VI - Meetings
SECTION 1 Meetings of the Outreach For Youth shall be held every other subsequent Tuesday beginning on the third Tuesday
of September.
ARTICLE VII - Amendments
SECTION 1 Any individual of the membership may propose amendments to this constitution during the second meetings of every
October and March following the general election of officers.
SECTION 2 Proposed amendments shall be submitted in writing to the Club Advisor for consideration.
SECTION 3 Amendments shall be disseminated to the membership for their approval as part of a midterm election.
SECTION 4 To be approved, amendments shall require a two-thirds majority vote of those voting and shall become effective
during the next effective term.
